School begin for our fourth and fifth grade students at 7:45 a.m. and concludes at 2:25 p.m. Sixth grade classes consist of a modified middle school schedule and our Seventh and Eighth grade classes are taught on a seven period day schedule with each class lasting approximately 50 minutes. School begins for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade at 8:05 a.m. and concludes at 3:25p.m.
Elwood Community Middle School is a definite support base in the housing of active after-school programs that service many of the students attending the school. There are activities such as: athletics, music, peer tutoring, academic enrichment, drama and community sponsored events. We also have an outstanding Parent/Teacher organization to support the emotional and social well being of our students.
On Tuesday, March 11, 2014 and continuing through Thursday, March 13, 2014 all students at Elwood Community Middle School will be taking the ISTEP+ Applied Skills Assessment. Testing will begin on those days at approximately 8:20 a.m. and continue through 10:00 a.m. each day. We are asking all parents to make sure your child gets enough sleep each evening, gets up early enough so that he/she will be on time for school, eats a healthy breakfast and keeps a positive attitude about the test. The entire staff at Elwood Community Middle School thanks you for your support!
