Attention Elwood Intermediate Parents, Guardians, and Visitors

April 17, 2016 ISTEP+ UPDATE

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As you are aware we have been working diligently the past several months preparing for the ISTEP+. Our final testing window for ISTEP+, the Multiple Choice portion, will be April 18th May 6th. We will start testing on Monday,April 18th and end on Friday,May 6th. EIS staff felt due to a newer testing platform and past performance, students should have the opportunity to test this portion on desktop computers in our labs. Since EIS is limited to two labs and approximately 7 computers in the library, we will have a very tight testing schedule.

Please make sure you make every effort to have your child at school and on time on their tested day. Mrs. Groover and the Elwood Elementary staff have agreed to switch elective arts schedules for these three weeks and some lunch times have been adjusted due to testing. Also, adjustment on Spring Band/Choir performance has changed due to lack of ability to meet and practice. Below is the testing schedule for our EIS students:

5th/6th grade April 18th, April 20th, April 22nd, April 26th, April 28thand May 2nd - ELA/Math 8:05a.m. 1:50p.m. (make-up times throughout day)

3rd/4th grade April 19th, April 21st, April 25th, April 27th, April 29th and May 3rd - ELA/Math 8:05a.m. 1:50p.m. (make-up times throughout day)

4th/6th grade May 4th Science 8:05a.m. 1:50p.m. (make-up times throughout day)

4th/5th grade May 5th S.S./Book 2 (Math) 8:05a.m. 1:50p.m. (make-up times throughout day)

We ask that you help your child prepare for the test (which is worth 70% of their total score) by doing the following:

  1. Make sure they get plenty of rest the night before.
  2. Make sure they eat a good breakfast
  3. Make sure you have your child in attendance and on time each day (7:45a.m.)
  4. Do something fun with your child, as this is a stressful time for them. I have asked teachers on off-testing days to explore creative instructional lessons/projects.

Lets all work together to CRUSH the test!

Sincerely,

Teresa Boucher
Principal
